Everything You Want to Know
About tallow, our balm, and how to use it.
Tallow is rendered beef fat — specifically the fat surrounding the kidneys, called suet. Its lipid profile closely mirrors human sebum, making it exceptionally biocompatible — your skin recognises and absorbs it readily.
No. Properly rendered and double-strained tallow has a very faint, neutral scent — far milder than most unscented plant butters. Our balm is slow-rendered at low temperature and carefully strained to remove any proteins that could cause off-odours.
Tallow is well-tolerated by most skin types including sensitive skin. It contains no synthetic fragrance, no preservatives, and no emulsifiers — removing many common irritants. We always recommend patch-testing first if your skin is reactive.
Scoop a small amount with your fingertip — a pea-sized amount covers the whole face. Apply to clean, slightly damp skin for best absorption. One 60ml jar typically lasts 6–10 weeks with daily facial use.
Our balm has a shelf life of 12–18 months when stored correctly. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Always use clean, dry hands to scoop.
Our tallow is sourced from certified organic, pasture-raised cattle — a by-product of the food system that would otherwise go to waste.
